YXE Airport Pollination Garden

Saskatoon's largest and most diverse Pollination Garden. Completed in 2025 by Newroots Construction, it contains more than 40 species of Saskatchewan native flowers and grasses, carefully curated to provide a home and feeding ground for a large variety of bees, beetles, moths and butterflies.

From start to finish, we will walk you through the stages of the installation of one of our pollination gardens. From designing and supplying the flowers to ground prep and finishing, we take care of every step so your company doesn't have to.

Design

We start the project by accessing your site, budget and goal to see what we can put together for you.

We will designs a rough site plan and plant layout and provide a quote for the project.

Once approved and the deposit is paid, we will proceed to scheduling and securing the native plant stock for the project from our nursery.

Site Prep

Cutting out sod and grass, leveling and hauling in manure, soil, compost and organic matter is important in building a good soil base to start with provide the plants nutrients to start growing the first season.

Flower Acclimation

Many of the Saskatchewan Native Flowers require complicated double stratification to germinate and start.

It's far from as simple as sprinkling seeds on the ground.

All our plants are germinated, propagated and grown out in our indoor nursery, then moved outside to acclimate. They are then hauled out for planting.
